Call for Applicants: World Vision’s Igniting Youth to Shape Canada’s Role in the World

Are you interested in Canada’s peacekeeping role abroad?

Come share your ideas!

Next month, Canada will host the United Nations Peacekeeping Summit in Vancouver. The Department of Political Science and the Liu Institute for Global Issues, in partnership with World Vision Canada, are hosting an event called “Igniting Youth to Shape Canada’s Role in the World”.

We are seeking 10-15 students of any nationality who are willing to share their thoughts on topics such as:

  • What unique contributions should Canada make to global peacekeeping efforts?
  • What else can Canada do to protect people at risk?
  • What should Canada’s increased defence spending accomplish for peace?
  • What’s in it for Canada? What is the return on investment?

There will be some pre-work ahead of the event. Your ideas and recommendations will inform key conversations at the Peacekeeping Summit! More details regarding the event program will be provided once your participation has been confirmed. Candidates for participation will be selected per the application process below.

Application Process

Please fill out the online form by Oct 16th: https://ir.sites.olt.ubc.ca/peacekeeping-application/. Applicants will be notified of the results no later than Oct 20th.

*Please note that you can apply for an additional event related to the UN Peacekeeping Ministerial through the same application form.
